No ticket desk sits behind this page, because nothing here is sold or booked. Every walk described on this site belongs to an independent local guide with a GuruWalk listing, and a reservation is made on GuruWalk's own page for that walk. What this site has instead is one email address, and mail sent to it gets read. Corrections, additions and firm disagreements all count, and a short note naming the page and the problem is usually the most useful kind.

Not every message weighs the same. The ones below change these pages directly, because each points at something a walk page has wrong or a free walk it has missed. If your note fits one of them, send it.

• Details drift on any walking tour. Meeting points shift, start times move, a route changes hands between guides. Where a page here no longer matches the walk itself on GuruWalk, say so and it gets fixed. There is no price to go stale, because every walk on this site is free and pay what you want.
• A walk that has disappeared or quietly reshaped itself. GuruWalk listings sometimes stop accepting bookings, drop a stop such as Dean Village from the route, or change from English to Spanish only. Send the walk's name and what changed. If it holds up, the page is corrected or the walk comes down.
• If a free-entry rule is wrong, tell us which day it actually applies. Same if a garden that charges for the Palm Houses is described as free, or an attraction run by one body is given another body's rules. Every fact of that kind on this site is checked against official or primary sources, never operator marketing.
• A guide whose walk is absent. If a real, currently bookable GuruWalk listing for a free pay-what-you-want walk in Edinburgh is missing from these pages, send the link. It gets read the same way every other walk was. No guide pays to appear here, and no guide can pay for a higher place.
• Questions are welcome as well, whether the FAQ covers them or the guides do not.

After You Write

When mail arrives, corrections jump ahead of everything else. A wrong meeting point or a start time that has slipped can cost a visitor their one free evening in Edinburgh, so anything that repairs a fact on a walk page goes first. General questions travel slower, and some end up answered inside a guide rather than by reply. There is no newsletter to be added to, and an email address is never shared with anyone.

What Happens Next

This site does not reserve spots, hold places or handle money. Free Things to Do in Edinburgh points you toward walks worth taking, nothing more. To claim a place, use the guide's GuruWalk page; any tip you choose to leave afterwards travels the same route. No booking passes through this site, so a message here cannot change one.

Already booked? Start with the confirmation email GuruWalk sent when your spot was reserved. It holds your reference, the meeting point and the guide's own contact route. If a departure shifts, a group goes astray or plans change, that guide is the one who can fix it, because the walk belongs to them. This site has no access to your reservation and no way to act on it, so a message here about a live booking only slows the answer down.

Before writing to anyone, pull two details out of that GuruWalk email. The first is the meeting point. Edinburgh guides gather at precise spots, a named close off the Royal Mile, a particular church door, a statue base, and imprecise ones are where groups lose each other (see Royal Mile Free?). The second is the cancellation window. A free spot is still a held place someone else could use, and the terms differ from guide to guide. On both counts, the guide's GuruWalk page is the authority.
